Background Checks
At The One Matchmaking your safety and security is important to us.
One of the biggest complaints about online dating sites is that they are filled with scammers, cheaters and all sorts of predatory and dysfunctional people. One of the reasons this happens is there are usually no background checks being conducted by these platforms. We believe that investing in your love life, and a matchmaker, should come with a level of safety and security beyond internet dating. This is a key benefit of the service we provide and we do our best to reduce the risks for you.
We conduct basic background checks on 100% of applicants before they are accepted as a member. Simply requesting this information creates a barrier and a level of investment which eliminates the vast majority of non serious individuals, or those with less than honorable intentions. We do however realize that information is accepted in good faith and may only be accurate at the time requested. For this reason, we always encourage our members to still trust their instincts and use good judgment with the people they date.

Documentation must be no more than 3 months old at the time of submission.
Passport & Residency
Please provide us with a full colour copy of your passport as well as a copy of your Swiss Residency Permit (if applicable)
Criminal Record
You can order a criminal record check online. Currently the cost of the criminal record is 20.00 CHF
You will be asked if you would like the classic record or a special record. The classic record is sufficient for this purpose.
Please note, your record will be electronically verified and for this reason we can only accept original paper copies or digitally signed electronic copies. Scanned copies of paper records are not accepted.
Debt Collection Record
You can obtain a credit check in person at your local Debt Enforcement Office or online. Currently the cost is 17.00 CHF
If you have moved to a new city or town within the last 6 months, you must submit a record from your current and previous place of residency.
Marital Status
THE ONE Matchmaking only accepts members who are available for a serious and committed relationship. For that reason, as a general rule, we do not accept members who are currently married, separated or in the process of divorce.
You can order a civil status certificate (Personenstandsausweis) via the civil register office (Zivilstandsamt) in your place of origin (Heimatort).
Alternatively, you can provide us with a confirmation of Residency (Wohnsitzbestätigung) which also shows your civil status. This can be ordered online from your local register office.
